Burlap (sometimes known as jute) is 100% natural and therefore biodegradable. An eco friendly product that can be used, reused and then recycled or even composted it. It can be used for a wedding to give it a classic and natural look and then recycled. Resale is also a good option, sell it to someone that can use it for something else such as; tree wraps, or a art store. Florists can use burlap to accent their flower bouquets.
Burlap fabric material is made from 100% organic jute fibers. Burlap is a natural fiber and therefore contains inherent blemishes, defects and creases. Jute fibers are very rough and this translates into burlap fabric also being rough and uneven by nature. Burlap fabric also tends to shed bits of fibers and comes with the classic linseed oil scent.
Burlap is a multi-functional product, good for many applications. Most common of these uses are as rustic décor for home or events, and in the garden. The garden has two main uses: to protect seeds during the germination process, and as tree and plant wrappings to protect them from frost. Important note: when you iron out creases, please place a fabric sheet between the iron and the burlap.
